The Winora Yucatan E-bike is an excellent choice for anyone seeking a robust and stylish electric bike. With its wide tires, powerful Yamaha motor, and large battery, it offers an impressive range and reliability. However, one downside for the Dutch flatlands is that the stock gears are too light. In this post, I’ll show you how to upgrade the front chainring to make it better suited for flat terrain, based on my own experience.

Specifications of the Winora Yucatan 10
The Winora Yucatan 10 comes with:

- Battery: 630 Wh InTube, providing a significant range
- Tires: Continental Contact Cruiser, 27.5″ x 2.4″

Upgrading the Front Chainring
The stock 38-tooth chainring can feel too light, making it less efficient for the flat terrain common in the Netherlands. After extensive research, I camo to the conclusion that 38T is the biggest chainring (in one piece). Until I suddenly found a suitable upgrade using the following components:
- Miranda Spider 4-Arm CL Alu for Yamaha PW Motor – Black
- Miranda Chainring BCD104 or Deckas 104BCD 40 42 44 46 48 T 50 52 Tand
Both the spider and the chainring have a 104mm bolt circle diameter (BCD), ensuring a perfect fit.
Installation Process
- Remove the Crankset: Carefully remove the crankset. For this you need some special tools. Note that the crank arm bolt has a left-hand thread—turn it clockwise to loosen (righty tighty, lefty loosey).
- Install the Spider and Chainring:
- Mount the Miranda spider to the Yamaha motor on the crankshaft.
- Attach the 52-tooth Miranda chainring to the spider. This size is optimal and larger sizes may interfere with the bike’s frame.
- Reassemble the Crankset:
- Reinstall the crank arm, ensuring the crankshaft nut is fitted backward to avoid threading issues.
- Fasten the nut with the proper amount of torgue!
Here’s a quick list of the components and tools:
